Once again our thoughts are with our brothers and sisters in Lower Merion Township. It is painful to say, but they have had another Line of Duty Death. Belmont Hills Fire Company, Gladwyne Fire Company and Narberth Ambulance responded to I76 early yesterday morning for an auto accident. While operating on the scene, another driver drove around the trucks and into the accident scene. They struck 3 firefighters and 1 state police officer. Unfortunately one of those firefighters, Tom Royds, passed away from the injuries he sustained. This occurred only 20 days after the Line of Duty Death of Firefighter Sean DeMuynck. There are no words that can fully describe the sorrow that is in our hearts. Please do not drive impaired, slow down around accident scenes and give first responders a lane for safety.
