We are deeply saddened by the Line of Duty Death of Firefighter Sean DeMuynck of the Penn Wynne Overbrook Hills Fire Company. FF DeMuynck lost his life following a July 4th house fire in Lower Merion Township. FF DeMuynck , along with his wife, were scheduled to return to his home country of Canada on July 5th. When the fire service loses a brother, it affects us all. Area companies have been handling the emergency responses for the Penn Wynne Overbrook Hills station since Monday morning to allow their members to focus on recent events. Squad 4, staffed by members of Cheltenham, Elkins Park and Rockledge Fire Companies, covered their station this morning. Upon our arrival, we were presented with a Canadian flag by the previous standby crew. Each company flies this flag from their truck during the standby in honor and memory of FF DeMuynck. We were honored to meet a great group of Penn Wynne firefighters, it's unfortunate it was under such difficult circumstances. Our hearts are with our brothers. Rest easy FF Sean DeMuynck.
